about me

Hey! I love making films. Life had it that most of the feature films I have done are low-low budget (ok a few higher ones too). I have learned how to make these low budget films, which I would like to share with you.

I am also a professor of cinematography at the School of Film, Fine Arts School at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. I love teaching film. This site was created so I can share my love for cinematography and filmmaking at large.

Yes, I was born. Place of entry, Sydney, Australia. Then moved to Greece. Then moved back again to Australia. Back and forth. Loved Mathematics (earned a Bachelor of Science majored in Mathematics from Sydney University), but filmmaking won my heart. (BFA in film from C.W.Post in New York and an MFA in film from USC, Los Angeles).

In 2000 I photographed Still Looking for Morphine (directed by Yannis Fagras) a film which won the Greek Critics Association award at the 42nd Thessaloniki Film Festival. Other films I have worked as a cinematographer include: Slaves in their Bonds (shot in Greece), Forget me Not (2014 shot in N. Orleans and Alaska), A Night at The Theatre (2022) directed by Sotiris Stamatis and The Zealot (2023) directed by Stelios Repanis. I have also worked in documentaries in Africa and India, the US and Greece.

In 2015 I directed the second cycle of the series Foteina Monopatia (Paths of Light) for the state channel ET2.

My short film Level 71, which I directed in 2021, has won numerous European awards chief among them Best Short Film at the London International Film Festival.
I am also a member of G.S.C (Greek Society of Cinematographers)

On my free and spare time I play the piano.

Oh…..and I am married with children. Christina, my wife, is a film theorist. Our two children, Lydia and Odysseas, are the two greatest actors in our lives’ film and they are ….. interactive!!!
